At Brampton Primary School we support all our children in gaining the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to develop into future citizens who have happy, successful and fulfilling lives. We believe that the ability to manage money is a key life skill which also has implications for the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of each child.
We are very pleased to now officially be a Pfeg Centre of Excellence in Financial Education. This means that we have shown how we embed Financial Education into our day- to day curriculum. In addition to maths lessons children also gain personal finance knowledge and skills in other subjects including English, PSHE, Art, Design & Technology, History and Geography.
Year Group initiatives form exciting opportunities for our pupils to work with parents, local businesses and the wider community. The children work on understanding the monetary value of coins in Foundation Stage, Planning a Party in Key Stage 1 to thinking about ‘Fair Trade’ in Key Stage 2. Once a year we hold whole school events which focus on financial education. These weeks develop children's understanding of money, enterprise and careers. By Year 6 our pupils are able to organise and run fundraising events with minimal adult support, demonstrating a level of financial capability which should stand them in good stead for the future.
We are excited to be working as a ‘Centre of Excellence’; we look forward to sharing our knowledge and experience with other schools.
