Exceptional Gymnasts!

This week has been a great week for Brampton Primary School’s gymnasts! After victoriously competing in the first round of the gym competition at William Howard School last week, the children were committed to early morning and after school gym clubs to prepare for the Partnership Final. This final took place on Tuesday 27th January at the Richard Rose, Morton Academy in Carlisle. All three teams completed well executed floor routines and a vault and with many nervous parents carefully watching every pointed toe! Every one of our gymnasts made us all very proud, well done. I was particularly impressed with the camaraderie amongst the children, they encouraged their peers and they were ‘in it together’ and united in their teams. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with them and I know Mrs Israel would echo my words.

The Year 1 and 2 team: Niamh McGuiness, Ben Morton, Summer Wharton, Daniel Beesley, Isla Wareing and Sandy Roberts finished in 4th position in the Key Steps One Competition out of a total of 16 teams!

The Year 3 and 4 team: Ryan McGuiness, Daniel Hopper, Tegan Nixon, Abbie Thompson, Zara Dawkins and Ellie Blenkinsop finished in 7th position in a tough Key Steps Two Competition.

The Year 5 and 6 team: Ruby Noble, Katy Mitchinson, Anna Percival, Ruby Campbell, Emma Reeves and Dannika Wilson finished in a fantastic 2nd position in the Key Steps Three Competition – missing out on a trip to the County Finals by 0.9 of a mark! Such fine margins!

Thank you to all for supporting your children throughout the two competitions and making sure the children have been able to attend gym club so they are ready to compete.
I’m sure the gymnasts would join me in thanking: Sienna Taylor, Miss McCarthy, Mrs Kennedy and Abby Mitchelson for coming to our gym club to help out – your help is much appreciated. Also, thank you very much to Mrs Israel and Miss Miller who have worked with the Year 1 and 2 children.

Note: All gymnasts will be presented with a certificate at the beginning of our weekly, ‘Praise Assembly’ on Friday 30th January. You are most welcome to come along if you are able.

Another fabulous run of gymnastics that I have been proud to be part of - well done gymnasts! I’m looking forward to our next round of gym already!
