Today saw the start of Fairtrade Week in school. The national event runs over a fortnight but we are giving it particular focus this week, before returning to our other year group themes next week.
Reverend Andrew kicked proceedings off for us this morning (with the help of Barry Banana) and the children have begun to explore the concept of fairtrade in greater detail with their classes. Our particular focus for the week is the Tanzanian Coffee trade.
Over the course of the week the school council are running a fairtrade tuck shop at morning break. They are selling fairtrade bananas, flavoured raisins and Geobars from the stall and none of the items cost more than 40p. It's all good healthy stuff too!
We are also hosting a coffee morning on Friday where we will be celebrating the children's learning and serving some lovely Tanzanian Fairtrade coffee for you to try! Feel free to pop in for a cup between 10am and 11:30am on Friday. We hope you can make it!
