What a week it has been for Brampton Primary School’s gymnasts! On Monday 4th March our gym teams competed in the first round of the Key Steps Gym Competition at William Howard. We had a great morning, our Year 1 and 2 Team worked really hard and impressed Miss Nelson in their competition, just missing out on a qualifying position. Shortly after this good start both the Year 3 and 4 Team and the Year 5 and 6 Team completed their floor routines and vault to win their competitions to qualify for the second round, the Partnership Final. Well done to all!
After two extra gym sessions and pointed toes at the ready the two winning teams set off to the second round of competition earlier today (Wednesday 6th March) at the Richard Rose, Morton Academy in Carlisle. Both teams completed well executed floor routines and a vault and with many nervous parents looking on all of them performed brilliantly! A few hiccups whilst warming up added to the tension, safe to say my nerves rather than the nerves of the children, but they all ‘pulled it out of the bag’ when it mattered. Every one of our gymnasts made us all very proud, well done.
The Year 3 and 4 team; Anna Percival, Ruby Noble, Ben Duggan, Luke Kelly, Ruby Campbell and Millie Ross finished in 3rd position in a tough Key Steps Two Competition.
The Year 5 and 6 team; Ashleigh Mitchell, Emily Watson, Giorgia Camele, Sofia Ponton, Joseph Kelly and Anna Beales finished in 1st position in the Key Steps Three Competition. This means this team will represent Carlisle and North Cumbria in the County Final at the end of March.
Thank you to all for supporting your children throughout the two competitions especially those who have provided transport and made sure the children had fantastic hair – they looked great! Thanks also to Anna’s Mum for taking lots of photographs.
Another day I was proud to be part of, well done gymnasts!
