Welcome to Mrs Shovlin’s Class Page
We have really enjoyed our Autumn Term in 12VS and we are looking forward to a very busy and productive Spring term.
This half term our Key Stage topic is ‘Inspirational People’ where we look at significant individuals that have made a real difference to other people’s lives and left their mark on society. This is a very informative topic where the children learn a lot through non-fiction based learning and real life events that have influenced history and our world. We will be looking at the role of the emergency services and significant people and stories in Christianity and Hinduism. The children will also enjoy learning about the young palaeontologist Mary Anning and her discoveries of the first dinosaur fossils. This half term is very short but very sweet.
Children will be taking part in our daily Read, Write Inc. scheme where we have already seen lots of progress since the start of Autumn term. It would be extremely helpful if parents could help by reading with their child daily then writing a comment in their reading records and learning their weekly spellings.
Mastery maths in 12VS will have a focus on geometry this half term then moving onto time. Keep an eye on your child’s homework tasks for what they will be learning that week. Homework is sent out on a Wednesday and is due back into school to be marked on Mondays.
PE in 12VS will be on Mondays and taught by Mr Clark on Tuesdays. Please ensure that your child has their full PE kit to ensure that they can take part in their lessons safely.
Thank you for taking the time to read this page. If you have any questions, please see me on the playground or make an appointment.
