This half term our topic is 'Winter Wonderland'. We have snow filled displays in the classrooms and a very snowy continuous provision room... we can dream about getting the real stuff! Within our topic we will be carrying out scientific investigations which will involve trying to keep some very cold visitors frozen. We will consider the different seasons and the features of them. We will be developing our geographical skills by identifying the different continents and learning more about the polar regions and the animals that live there. Our literacy texts and stories will link to our topic, we hope to find out lots about penguins. Our P.E. focus this term is gymnastics where we will be doing lots of floor work. As January is the time of resolutions in our Jigsaw lessons will be setting ourselves goals and challenges.
It is brilliant to see comments from parents in reading diaries, please keep this up each night. If your child has reached the end of their book please make a note in their diary . We can then ensure a new book comes home. If we do not have this message from you we will not change their book.
P.E. will take place on Monday and Friday for both classes so make sure kit is in school at all times. Can we remind you that if your child has their ears pierced and they cannot take their studs out they must bring tape to cover them for P.E. lessons.
There are three different groups each morning for literacy and maths taught by Mrs Shovlin, Mrs Graham and Mrs Walker/Mrs Bouch. We hope your child enjoys talking to you about what they are up to in these lessons and their homework each week will help you see.
Homework will be given out each Wednesday and needs to be back in school by the following Monday. It will consist of spellings and a maths task as well as daily reading of their reading book.
Here's to a great half term!
Walby Farm Park Christmas Extravaganza
We had a wonderful time at Walby Farm park for their Christmas extravaganza. We took part in a live nativity, made reindeer food, went inside a snow globe, met SANTA, played in the snow and graduated from the elf academy... that was all before lunchtime! After lunch we had great fun in the play barn. Once again the children were exceptional, a lady with a little boy stopped me to comment that the children were so well mannered and kind to her little boy. Thank you for your support with this trip, these moments make memories!
Merry Christmas from the KS1 team
