Welcome to KS1!
We are a year 1 and 2 class. Our teacher is Miss Harrison. We are supported by Mrs Foster, Mr Smith and Mrs Jackson.
Our classroom is a fantastic place to learn. It is stimulating, fun and always busy!
We work very well as a team and enjoy our varied and creative curriculum.
We enjoy daily numeracy lessons, where we are challenged daily and given independent opportunities to apply our learning. We enjoy lots of practical activities and we love to learn outside the classroom and use the outdoors. We use our classroom numeracy area during afternoon work to practise and extend our numeracy skills.
We learn our literacy skills through our Read, Write Inc programme which we really enjoy! We start with a daily speed sounds lesson where we learn our phonic sounds in a fun, systematic way with the help of Fred Frog! Our literacy lessons follow; we spend a lot of time reading with our perfect partners. We learn lots of green and red words so we can become great readers! We use a lot of drama activities to help us with our writing. We love it when our teachers dress up!
We love completing our independent learning challenges in all our busy areas. This allows us to practise and 'show off' our understanding and skills from our learning in Maths, English and Topic. We are very lucky to have so many lovely areas to work in; including the sand, play dough, craft, reading and listening, construction, maths and outdoor areas. Grown-ups also work with us in the busy areas, as well as on our focus tasks. They know we work best when our learning is real, relevant and fun.
Our P.E days are Thursday and Friday.
Look out for our topic newsletters each half term to keep you up to date on our learning.
Miss Harrison is very proud of all of us for working well together and trying our best every day!
