Welcome to Mrs Armstrong’s Class!
Happy New Year!
I hope you have all thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas break and that Santa was kind to everyone! We have had a great chat about each other’s lovely presents and the children have settled back very well already. I’m sure they are raring to get back in to the swing of things!
Last term, I was very impressed with the children’s subject books. They show lots of hard work, determination and some lovely presentation skills. Thank you 34JA! They are a great record of your success so far!
Homework is given every Monday and needs to be completed by Thursday. We would really appreciate it if you could help your child to plan when he/she should spend time completing homework and encourage them to be responsible for handing it in on time. Homework consists of weekly spellings and a maths/literacy or topic activity. As well as this it is important that your child continues to learn their times tables up to 12 x 12. The government target is that all children know all of their times tables at speed by the end of year 4!
It is also vital that your child reads every night. Each child has a yellow homework diary in which they should record the book they are reading and anything else they need to remember.
This term our Geography topic is ‘The UK and Europe’ and is sure to engage the children with interesting lessons to include researching country fact files, practising mapping skills and much more! Also, in Science we will be learning about Sound and Electricity.
(Please see our newsletter attached at the bottom of the page s for more details.)
The children in 34JA will continue to have P.E. lessons on both Tuesday and Thursday so they will need to remember their kit on these days. P.E. kit includes white or red plain T-shirts, black or blue shorts and either trainers or plimsolls. No jewellery should be worn and long hair should be tied back for safety reasons. In addition to a P.E. kit, it would also be very useful for children to have an old shirt in school for use during our art and technology lessons.
We are looking forward to another busy and exciting term and if you have any questions or you would like to come in for a chat please don’t hesitate to do so.
Mrs Armstrong :)
