Welcome back to the third and final term of the academic year. The time goes so fast! I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter break, including eating lots of lovely chocolate eggs and had time to enjoy the sunny days that we had! We are looking forward to the summer term being a busy time of warmer days, lighter nights and lots of sporting events, including swimming which starts this week and of course rounders!
This term, all 34JA children will continue to be taught English by myself (Mrs Armstrong on Mon,Tues,Wed,Thurs) and Mrs Farrow (on Fri) Then my Year 3 children will head over to Mrs Haine each morning for Maths, while Year 4 remain with me.
We will start our new topics ‘World Climate Zones’ and ‘Habitats’ and I’m sure the children will thoroughly enjoy all of the activities they are faced with. The details can be found on the attached newsletter at the bottom of this page. The children in 34JA will have P.E. lessons on both Tuesday and Thursday so they will need to remember their kit on these days. P.E. kit includes white or red plain T-shirts, black or blue shorts and either trainers or plimsolls.
Please remember that for the first five weeks of this term the children will be swimming every Friday. Details of which were sent out in a letter last half term. No jewellery should be worn and long hair should be tied back for safety reasons. In addition to a P.E. kit, it would also be very useful for children to have an old shirt in school for use during our art and technology lessons.
Homework is given every Monday and needs to be completed by Thursday. We would really appreciate it if you could help your child to plan when he/she should spend time completing homework and encourage them to be responsible for handing it in on time. Homework consists of weekly spellings and a maths/literacy or topic activity. As well as this it is important that your child continues to learn their times tables up to 12 x 12. It is also vital that your child reads every night. Each child has a yellow homework diary in which they should record the book they are reading and anything else they need to remember!
We are looking forward to another exciting, hardworking and successful term and if you have any questions or you would like to come in for a chat please don’t hesitate to do so.
Mrs Armstrong :)
