Welcome to Mrs Paisley’s Year 6 Class
Welcome to the third and final term of the academic year. I hope you have all had an action packed yet restful Easter Break, enjoyed your chocolate in moderation and the Bank Holiday weekend!
Our term starts with positivity and enthusiasm – an opportunity to complete tricky challenges in maths lessons and lots of exciting writing and grammar work. With four days to go before the year 6 children take their SATs ‘Show-Off’ assessments I’m sure all will be determined to do their best.
During the afternoon sessions we are going to be completing our unit of work, ‘Space’ in science and moving onto, ‘Forces.’ Our ‘Mapwork’ topic will start for the first half of the summer term before we move onto ‘WWII’ - I’m sure the children will thoroughly enjoy all of the activities they are faced with. The summer term also sees us start work on our production, ‘The Amazing Adventures of Super Stan!’ the children have considered the options offered to them and this is the production they opted for. I look forward to seeing the acting talents of our children. Morning lessons will continue, children will be completing maths and literacy lessons to help them prepare for their transition to secondary school – it’s fast approaching!
The children have P.E. on both Tuesday and Friday, this hasn’t changed this term, and they will need to remember their kit on these days. As it is the summer term, we may be able to squeeze in some extra P.E. sessions in preparation for summer competitions so having P.E. kit in school every day would be very helpful. I should remind everybody; P.E. kit includes white or red plain T-shirts (not the polo shirt they are wearing all day), black or blue shorts and either trainers or plimsolls. No jewellery should be worn for safety reasons. P.E. is part of the curriculum and it is important for children to have their P.E. kit on the appropriate day. During the summer term we will be enjoying cricket, rounders, tennis, swimming and athletics!
