Welcome to 4JA Mrs Armstrong
Welcome back! I hope you've all had a wonderful summer break and that you made the most of the occasional sunshine that we had! I am very impressed with the children in 4JA so far, they have settled very well and have been enthusiastic and hardworking already. Well done!
This year, all 4JA children will be taught by myself (Mrs Armstrong on Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs) and Mr Armstrong will teach 4JA on Fridays. The children will be given homework each week which will include reading each evening, learning their multiplication tables, practising spellings and a literacy or maths activity.
Homework will be given out on Monday and needs to be returned by Thursday each week. If you could help your child to plan when they should spend time completing homework and encourage them to be responsible for handing it in on time that would be great! Each child has a new yellow homework diary in which they should record the book they are reading and anything else they need to remember.
This term our topic is ‘Ancient Greece’ and is sure to engage the children with exciting lessons to include gods and goddesses, finding out about famous myths and legends, with many mystical creatures to meet, plus how the Olympics began!
We will be also be learning about ‘Animals Including Humans’. We will be covering nutrition and the circulatory system, learning about different skeletons and bones, and also investigating food chains.
(Please see the newsletter attached at the bottom of the page for more details.)
The children in 4JA will have P.E. lessons on a Tuesday and Thursday and they will need to remember their kit on these days. P.E. kit includes white or red plain T-shirts, black or blue shorts and either trainers or plimsolls. No jewellery should be worn and long hair should be tied back for safety reasons. It is important for children to have their P.E. kit so we are able to provide them with a healthy, active curriculum.
I am looking forward to a very busy and exciting term and if you have any questions or you would like to come in for a chat please do not hesitate to do so.
