A Note from Mr Armstrong
I apologise for any inconvenience caused to you at the end of the school day today and would like to explain the reasons for the delay in letting children out of the school doors.
At approximately 3:10pm today, parents alerted school staff to a suspicious man who was seen in the woods at the top of our school playing field. References were made by parents to a 'wanted man' in relation to a crime committed yesterday and the man they had seen fitted the description. As a result the Police were called and asked to attend. In order to ensure the safety of all children at this time (particularly those who walk home alone), the children were held in classrooms until the police arrived.
After discussions with the officer in attendance and further discussions with the Police this evening, there is no reason to be concerned. The Police are not looking for a ‘wanted man’ but would like to speak to the individual and have urged parents not to chase him but report any concerns to 101 if they see him again.
School is open as usual in the morning and we will continue to treat the safety and well-being of your children as our top priority.
Thank you for your patience.
