Carlisle Schools' Girls Cricket Competition

Our girls' cricket team had a great day playing in the Carlisle schools cricket competition in Carlisle. Our first game was a closely fought game against Lanercost. Batting first, we set a good target of 242 runs after our 8 overs. Holding Lanercost to 232 runs with some tight bowling and fantastic fileding we were victorious in our first game.

Next we had to play Belle Vue. This time we won the toss and elected to field. Belle Vue put a very respectable total of 260 runs on their scorecard with some excellent batting. Our girls lacked confidence facing such a total, but after a quick pep talk they entered the attack with great determination. The game was still in balance by the final over with Brampton requiring 8 to win. Incredibly, once the final ball had been played we had secured victory by 5 runs. The girls were ecstatic to win and also to find out they had qualified for the semi finals.

Our next game was against Shankhill, a team who from the outset showed how much practice they had been completing. Some fantastic batting from our opposition finally gave a total of 280 runs! Our girls battled valiantly but this time the mountain was too high to climb.

A great day out and an experience to remember for our team. Well done to all, you represented Brampton Primary School brilliantly.
