Hawse End Day 1

Good evening! Well what a first day!

After a smooth bus journey down to Portinscale (despite the rain), we arrived and quicky settled in to the house. The children worked well together to make their beds and carry their luggage upstairs and after lunch, we were ready to go! The children have been very excited and threw themselves in to their first activities.

Mr Smith's group left on a minibus to get to Stonethwaite Beck - the ghyll that they then scrambled up. We heard some brilliant stories from  them tonight about waterfalls and tunnels and they've left the rest of us very excited to have a go at this later in the week.

Mrs Watson's group completed some very soggy orienteering around the centre and our normally dry activity turned out to be very wet today! I think they are all looking forward to getting on the lake tomorrow.

My group paddled out in kayaks this afternoon and definitely worked hard to battle the wind!  I was very proud of those children who overcame their doubts and ended up confident and very pleased with themselves.

I have to say, we have also been impressed with the eagerness of the children to try all the food offered to them tonight and every single one of them has eaten well! They have also settled well - the lights are off upstairs and the house is now pretty quiet! Almost time for us to get some sleep too!

I'll add a link for photos as soon as I have one sorted! Night night =)
