Sorry it's so late - we've been non-stop today! A better day weather-wise resulted in some easier paddling out on the lake and some happier faces under blue skies and some autumnal sunshine! Yes to that!
Mr Smith's group showed real determination this morning with bushcraft when lighting fires, making jewellery and baking damper dough around sticks over the fire. They then had a brilliant time out on the lake this afternoon getting to grips with kayaking.
Mrs Watson's group had an eventful day starting up a gyhll where the fast-flowing water proved a challenge that they rose to. This afternoon they had another wet activity out on the lake this time. They paddled out on Derwentwater in canoe rafts and after a few games and races, a couple of the group even braved the cold water for a dip before coming back to the house to get warmed up.
My group started out on the lake in canoe rafts - a very different experience to our windy start yesterday! The children put in a great effort to paddle across to St Herbert's Island where we had an explore before returning to the jetty for a jump in! We warmed up back at the house with hot showers and lunch and then spent a relaxing afternoon orienteering around Hawse End grounds.
Tonight we have had a roast turkey dinner followed by sticky toffee pudding - some very full and happy children after that! Our evening entertainment was provided by the children at show night tonight - a real favourite amongst the teachers! This year's contestants kept up the usual high standards and prizes were handed out for everyone who took part.
The forecast is fab for tomorrow so we're looking forward to another fun-filled day.
