On Wednesday 19th November three children from Brampton Primary School took part in the second Maths Quiz for primary schools in the Carlisle area. The children were Emily Siddle (Year 6), DJ Taylor (Year 6) and William Siddle (Year 5).
The quiz started with fifteen timed questions. The children worked very well during this round and gained 13 out of a possible 15 marks. The second round involved completing some very challenging word problems within 20 minutes. The children worked very well together discussing their ideas in order to come up with a solution. The final round involved the children answering a further twenty mental maths questions which had to be completed quickly. While the quiz was going on, the children also had to complete a number puzzle, which was also challenging but they managed to gain 8 points from completing part of the challenge.
The afternoon ended with the results. The top three schools out of the ten taking part were announced. Unfortunately we were not in the top three but looking at our result we must have been close! We would like to congratulate Yewdale School for being the winning school. Most importantly all three children had an enjoyable afternoon and worked very well together. WELL DONE to all three of you.
