Success at the Swimming Gala!
Today, Friday 7th February, 10 children represented our school at the Brampton Consortium Schools Swimming Gala. All of the children made us very proud by trying their best to swim as fast as possible!
The team was: Ewan Charlton, Alex McCabe, Matt Blenkinsop, Harry Dickson and Jack McKerracher. Matt and Alex did really well to reach the final of their event and finished in 4th and 6th respectively. The relay team (Ewan, Jack, Matt and Alex) also reached the final and finished in 6th place. All of the races were very close and medals were lost by the finest of margins against some tough opposition. Well done boys!
Now for the girls…
The team was: Aimee Burrus, Mollie Hillary, Rosie Hillary, Georgie Murphy and Hannah Bolam. All five girls also tried their best and as a result they all made the finals of their events! Aimee came third in her front crawl race and Rosie and Mollie just missed out on a medal in their races finishing in 4th and 5th respectively. Rosie missing out on 3rd place by a whisker! Georgie had us all excited by finishing in first place in her heat of the breaststroke race and then stepped up for the final in a good position. We were all delighted to watch Georgie win her race and the gold medal! No time to catch breath and the girls jumped back into the water for the final of the relay and in an incredibly nail biting race they swam as hard as they could to finish in 3rd place! The relay team was: Mollie, Hannah, Georgie and Aimee. Well done to all!
As well as the children, I must say thank you to all of the parents for supporting our team! We could hear the excellent cheering! A special thank you must go to Mrs. Dickson for transporting us to The Pools and to Mr. Smith for his transport and race timing. A great day had by all!
Hope you enjoy the photographs,
