Success for the Swimming Team!
Yesterday, Monday 4th February, 11 of our year 6 children went to the Brampton Consortium Swimming Gala at The Pools in Carlisle. They all took part in a variety of different races and excelled themselves in every way. Edward Croucher and Millie Power swam in the tough, 2 lengths front crawl race with Edward finishing 4th in the final and Millie finishing 5th in her race. Charlie Lockwood and Jasmine Harrand contested the 1 length front crawl and both swam well to finish in 6th place. Aaron Roberts and Emily Watson tackled the 1 length breaststroke and both swam brilliantly for 3rd and 4th respectively. We dominated the backstroke in both races with Toby Noble and Darci Clark taking stylishly to the water to win their races by emphatic margins! The excitement in the team really started to rise with these fantastic successes! We finished the day with the relays, the girls (Jasmine Harrand, Sofia Ponton, Ashleigh Mitchell and Millie Power) fought hard in their final to finish 4th by the narrowest of margins – well done girls! The boys (Edward Croucher, Ben Jackson, Charlie Lockwood and Toby Noble) started their campaign in lane 3, indicating the 3rd fastest qualifying time; they all swam as fast as they could and as the final change over happened they were in 4th position… The pressure was on Toby to bring the team home and he did just that! He swam at blistering pace to not only move into 3rd but to bring the team home in second place for his teammates!! A HUGE well done to all of the swimmers and parents for their support; we all left the pool happy, exhausted and with sore throats from the incredibly loud cheering! Mrs Paisley
