Y5 Urban Adventure Visit

Urban Adventure

This morning on a blazing hot glorious day, the children in year 5 along with myself, Mrs Frizell, Mr Smith and Mrs Walker went on a fantastic end of year class trip to Urban Adventure at Bitts Park, Carlisle. The children all behaved impeccably and represented the school in a very positive way. I, along with the other teachers, was very proud!

When we arrived at the site, armed with plenty of sun cream and drinks, the children were harnessed and given a helmet, before being split into two groups. One of the groups tackled the climbing wall whilst the other did the 4m high niko rail which has 13 bridges and the 8m high safe roller with a further 13 bridges. The children swapped later on so that they each completed all of the activities.

It has to be said that there were many nerves to begin with but the children really pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and they certainly weren’t disappointed. A special mention has to go out to Levi, who after much hesitation, tackled the zip wire before doing it again, and again and again! Other children who particularly stood out were Evan and Lewis on the climbing wall who zoomed up at a rapid rate. Greig, Casey, Jessica R, Rosie, Jack and Mason all conquered their fears by completing the 4m niko rail and then some went on to complete the 8m high one! For most confident, agile work Keaton, Drasius, Arran, Jessica T and Charlie really stood out as they whizzed around the course. But, I must say a massive well done to all of the children for their determination and perseverance today, excellent work guys!

At around 12.30, when we were rounding up our morning session, Mr Mitchinson arrived with a much needed celebratory ice cold lolly – we were all very happy to see him! We then found a shaded spot under the trees at the park and rehydrated and ate our lunch.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing tig, rounders, football, making up dance routines, throwing a ball about and generally having some much needed and well deserved fun.

I know that I speak for all of year 5 when I say that we had a brilliant day which has finished off our fantastic year together. Thank you year 5!

P.S - these are just a few of the highlights of the day. There were just too many to add them all!
