Year 1

This web page has been set up to provide you with Home Learning activities and ideas for you and your child while you are self-isolating or the school is closed.

Your child should have brought the following things home with them:

  • reading book
  • reading record
  • paper based pack of activities
  • their login for Numbots and Spelling Shed (on the front of their leaning pack).

Please keep a close eye on this page for additional ideas or changes as time goes on.  

Suggested Timetable

Routines are very important for children.  Try to keep some rhythm in your day so the children still feel like they have some routine.  Use the paper-based pack of activities sent home and the online links to complete the suggested tasks below.

Use the online links to play one of the Numbots games. Your login is on the front of your home learning pack. Complete one of the activities in the paper-based pack. Watch some Numberblocks to keep up to date with your place value and number recognition.


Get outside & get some exercise. 

Drink some water and have a healthy snack.


Use ICT games and items from your paper pack to recognise and practice all your sounds. Use these sounds in real and nonsense words.


Use the online links to access Spelling Shed and ICT games. Phonics Play is good to read sentences and substitute words. Complete one of the activities in the paper-based pack




Continue to read lots and keep your reading records up to date.

Use books from home to add to your reading records. Don’t forget, your phonic sounds are in the middle of your reading records. Practice some of your Year 1 common exception words from your paper-based pack.




Easter is coming! Can you set up an Easter Egg hunt in your garden? Can you hard boil an egg and decorate it?


Look in your paper-based pack for the Easter story. Share this with your children and sequence the Easter story together.


Send photographs of your creations to  We will then add them to a gallery on this page. 




Your topic this term has been ‘The Great Fire of London’


Use as many different sources of information as you can to do the following activities…


  • Write about what it would be like to walk around London before, during and after the fire.
  • Research London. Where would you like to visit? Have you visited any of these places before?
  • Write some facts about Samuel Pepys. Who was he? Why was he famous?
  • Create a painting or drawing of ‘The Great Fire of London’.
  • Make some bread or cakes as if you were working in the bakery on Pudding Lane.




Get outside & get some exercise. 

Drink some water and have a healthy snack.
