Welcome back to the final half term of the year. It has gone so quickly!
This half term our topic is 'Coast to Coast' where we will learn all about seaside towns and the features of them as well as thinking about seaside holidays in the past. We hope to end the half term with a trip to Silloth where we will spot the features of a seaside town.
This half term the Year 1 children will complete the phonics screening assessment. If you have any questions about any of the assessments please contact a member of the Key Stage One team.
We also have some exciting weeks coming up including Sports Week and Enterprise Week. Sports Week will include our annual Sports Day and Enterprise Week will include a sale of the items children produce, more details to follow.
It is brilliant to see comments from parents in reading diaries, please keep this up each night. If your child has reached the end of their book please make a note in their diary . We can then ensure a new book comes home. If we do not have this message from you we will not change their book. Your child will receive reward points for reading at home and these points equal prizes!
P.E. will take place on Monday and Friday for both classes so make sure kit is in school at all times. Can we remind you that if your child has their ears pierced and they cannot take their studs out they must bring tape to cover them for P.E. lessons.
There are two different groups each morning for literacy and maths taught by Mrs Shovlin, Mrs Graham and Mrs Walker/Mrs Bouch. We hope your child enjoys talking to you about what they are up to in these lessons and their homework each week will help you see.
Homework will be given out each Wednesday and needs to be back in school by the following Monday. It will consist of spellings and a maths task as well as daily reading of their reading book.
Here's to a great half term!
All Stars Cricket
Key Stage One had a wonderful morning with Peter from All Stars Cricket. The morning started with an assembly to introduce what happened at each session followed by some taster activities out on the playground. The children had a great time. Check out some photographs below.
Walby Farm Park Christmas Extravaganza
We had a wonderful time at Walby Farm park for their Christmas extravaganza. We took part in a live nativity, made reindeer food, went inside a snow globe, met SANTA, played in the snow and graduated from the elf academy... that was all before lunchtime! After lunch we had great fun in the play barn. Once again the children were exceptional, a lady with a little boy stopped me to comment that the children were so well mannered and kind to her little boy. Thank you for your support with this trip, these moments make memories!
Merry Christmas from the KS1 team
