Welcome to Year 4’s Class Page
We are looking forward to seeing you all again in September, and to making school feel a little more normal again after a the easing of the Covid-19 restrictions. We are looking forward to a fun-filled and action packed term with you all.
Topics & Themes:
History themes in Year 4 this term will begin with the Roman Empire. In Geography we will learn about rivers, the water cycle and lines of latitude and longitude. We will be planning and making our own torches in Design and Technology while learning about electricity in Science. Much more information about our curriculum coverage is available in the Curriculum on a Page document at the bottom of this page.
During this term the children will have PE on Wednesday and Thursday so those will be the days that they will need to bring in their PE kit. We should remind everybody; P.E. kit includes white or red plain T-shirts (not the polo shirt they are wearing all day) black or blue shorts and either trainers or plimsolls. Black jogging bottoms are fine too as the weather gets colder. No jewellery should be worn for safety reasons.
Homework consists of reading every night, plus weekly spellings and times tables practise. Homework diaries should be brought to school each day, and should be used to record daily reading out of school, with a signature / comment from someone the children are reading to or with. We will check the diaries regularly and reward pupils for effort with home reading and using our records well. The children can practise their spellings on Spelling Shed, and they are also available to view on our Class Dojo. They will be given out on Monday and tested the following Monday. Times Tables Rockstars is a fun way for children to practice their tables, and there are also games on Hit the Button. Links for Spelling Shed and TT Rockstars are at the bottom of the page and login details are stuck on the inside front cover of reading records.
Our Class Dojo is our main channel of communication. We will put day to day information on there, as well as pictures of what the children have been up to in school. Please do not hesitate to message us via Dojo if you need anything.
