Welcome to the first term of this academic year!
Welcome to Year 4’s Class Page!
Topics & Themes:
This term we will be learning about ‘The Romans’. We have already been busy planning an exciting trip to the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda! The children will be able to explore what Roman life was like through looking at artefacts and the remains of a Roman fort. We will also be planning and making our own Roman catapult in Design and Technology and exploring ‘Escape from Pompeii’ and ‘Romans on the Rampage’ in our literacy and art sessions.
During Science sessions this term, we are going to be learning about ‘Electricity’. We’re looking forward to investigating different types of circuits and creating our own ‘Recycled Robots’ for our mini ‘Robots’ topic after half term.
During this term the children will have PE on Tuesday and Friday so will need to make sure they have their PE kits in school each week. We should remind everybody; P.E. kit includes white or red plain T-shirts (not the polo shirt they are wearing all day), black or blue shorts and either trainers or plimsolls. No jewellery should be worn for safety reasons. During the Autumn term we will be enjoying basketball and football lessons.
We would like to remind everybody about the importance of completing their homework and to reiterate to all children that they should ask at school if they are unsure about any of the tasks they have been asked to do.
As a reminder to parents, your child will be set their homework each week on a Wednesday. This must then be handed in by following Monday.
Each child is expected to read at home every night and practise their times tables. Please record this in their homework diaries and feel free to use this diary as a channel of communication between home and school should you wish too.
We are looking forward to another fun and exciting term.
