Welcome to the third and final term of this academic year!
Topics & Themes:
The children have another action packed half term ahead of them. During the afternoon sessions this term, we are going to be completing our unit of work, ‘States of Matter’ in science and moving onto ‘The Aztecs’ in our History work –I’m sure the children will thoroughly enjoy all of the activities they undertake. We have already had some exciting and creative projects completed at home!
P.E. & Swimming:
During this term the children will complete 10 weeks of swimming as part of their PE curriculum. They will also have PE on Tuesday so will need to make sure they have their PE kits in school each week. I should remind everybody; P.E. kit includes white or red plain T-shirts (not the polo shirt they are wearing all day), black or blue shorts and either trainers or plimsolls. No jewellery should be worn for safety reasons. P.E. is part of the curriculum and it is important for children to have their P.E. kit on the appropriate day. During the summer term we will be enjoying tag rugby, rounders, tennis, swimming (each Friday for 10 weeks) and athletics!
We would like to remind everybody about the importance of completing their homework and to reiterate to all children that they should ask at school if they are unsure about any of the tasks they have been asked to do. I will also run a homework drop in session on a Monday lunch time between 12.30pm and 1.00pm if anyone has any issues completing their homework. As a reminder to parents, your child will be given some homework each week (Wednesday, handed in following Monday) and I would appreciate it if you could help your child to plan when he/she should spend time completing homework as it is best to do frequent short sessions rather than all of it in one evening. Also, each child has a Reading Record in which they should record the book they are reading and page numbers they reach each time they read their books and anything else they need to remember. Feel free to use this diary as a channel of communication between home and school should you wish too. Miss Moir will endeavour to check Reading diaries and monitor children’s reading levels on a fortnightly basis.
We are looking forward to another fun and exciting term.
